Jeep has heavily revised the Grand Cherokee's 4.7-liter V8 for 2008, and this popular engine is now rated at 305 horsepower -- nearly as much as the larger Hemi V8. The company has also given the cabin a much-needed refresh, adding more soft-touch surfaces, upgraded lighting and a telescoping steering wheel. Newly available features include xenon HID headlights, the MyGIG hard-drive-based audio/navigation system, a back-up camera, a rear entertainment system and Sirius Backseat TV. For buyers planning to tap into the JGC's utility, technology like hill descent control, hill start assist and trailer sway control is now offered as well. Finally, availability of the diesel V6 has been expanded to the base Laredo model.

- Very small backseat and cargo area limits functionality, bouncy highway ride, poor fuel economy with either of the Hemi V8s.

By JB - June 7 - 3:20 amI have owned many cars including Jeeps. I owned an 04; but decided I would like Navigation etc. I now find its too complicated for me. Too many hard and soft keys to push which takes eyes off the road. Speedometter has swapped places with Tac and itis way too small. Caught for speeding before 200 miles.

By tony - May 26 - 9:26 amJust got my 08 limited 5.7 hemi. Gave up my 95 Cherokee that I had nothing but luck with . At 80 mph Im at 2000 rpm . This truck is very fast and has lots of power. Rides great. Im loaded with every option available. Hopefully after many miles Im still happy .

From SRT 8 to Diesel, both great. - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Stugoesfast - May 11 - 8:06 pm2006 SRT8 marked our return to Jeep. We found it a blast to drive and were completely satisfied with all aspects of the car. It was trouble free and was reluctantly traded for the 2007 Overland diesel. We ran that car continuously for a little over a year , with oil and filter changes the only work required. After 40,000 trouble free miles we traded for 2008 Overland diesel to avail ourselves of the last great meld of German engine and the best of Detroit. We could not be more satisfied, the 2008 is more refined than the 2007 with the feature list expanded and perfected. The reliability and build integrity is something we have remarked from the 2006 SRT to todays Overland. Love it!

3rd Jeep - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By zoggie - May 7 - 10:40 amThis is my 3rd Jeep. My 1st was a 94 with the 5.2 V8 and my 2nd a 01 with the 4.7 V8. I recently got the Limited with the 5.7 Hemi and Quadra-drive 4X4. Every option available on the car was ordered. I have always been a big Jeep fan, but this new model is much more refined than expected. I compared to "luxury" SUVs, and for the price, there is no comparison. The engine has plenty of pep, and the interior is nicer than the Lexus or Infinity I looked at. I dont care what the reviews say, the Jeep is as big as any "crossover" in terms of interior space, but the build quality is much higher of any SUV I looked at. This is definitely a huge contender against any SUV you look at.

By Cherokee lover - March 17 - 3:00 amI was angry when they stopped making the Cherokee. I loved my 98. I thought that I could not afford a JGC and at $35K, I was right. But Jeep is hurting. You can get a $35K JGC for as little as $21K. I couldnt refuse. And this is the best made Jeep yet. Go to your dealer and "steal".

By Leanne - March 7 - 4:43 amWhat drew me to this jeep was probably what draws a lot of women to a 4x4 SUV- I wanted to be able to drive over stuff and feel powerful so no one would mess with me on the road anymore. After years in 4 door sedans, it was time. The 2008 JGC has a sleek and classic body design and a standard interior design- nothing fancy, and thats the way I like it. I get about 21 mog, which is way less than when I drove a Honda, but I was well aware when buying this Jeep, fuel economy was not going to be that great, but I wanted something big and if I wanted fuel economy, I could have bought a Prius. Bottom line- I have fun everyday with my Jeep.

By thekidd.... - February 27 - 9:20 amI have the Laredo 4x4 with the 3.7 v6.it is a very good family vehicle.the rear entertainment system is great.no problem going on vacation with it. the engine is decently powerful and has OK acceleration loaded, i wish it felt more powerful or i should of got 4.7 but the 3.7 is good enough.watch your fuel economy because it goes down very fast if u have a heavy foot. i wish it had more oomph at 40 mph but this jeep engine is for better fuel economy.

By HEMICHICK - October 13 - 8:16 amI absolutely love my 2008 Grand Cherokee Limited 4wd. It is so much more fun to drive than my IS300 and either of the Acura TLs I had before. It fits my needs perfectly and also is great to drive. Nothing else can really compare to it! My father has owned several Jeeps and I will definitely purchase another one. Next one will be a SRT8 though :)

I decided to go with the JGC Limited because it met all my needs with out the premium price. After have driven this for three weeks, it was the best choice I could have made to stay with Chrysler! It has all the toys and buttons I was looking for in my next vehicle. The only real thing I would like to see improved is the gas mileage in city and highway. I am proud to still be driving American again, which completely surprised me! You will not go wrong if you consider this vehicle for price, style and toys included.

I purchased my 08 Overland last summer when gas prices where over 4 dollars a gallon, got 11 grand knocked off the price because they were not selling. Whos laughing now! I test drove a Lexus IS350, Ford Explorer, Edge, Lincoln MKX and Acura MDX. None can compare to the quality of this Jeep. Great fit and finish! For a SUV it rides like a Dream! Leather and Wood is Beautiful! Black with the chrome really turns heads, HIDs are flawless! And lets not forget enough power under the hood to really humiliate the kid in the Mustang at the red light. Bustin a** with a EMPTY baby seat in the back! HaHa, I Love My HEMI. German styling/American Muscle, Awesome!
